I was listening to a UK radio station last week and they mention that and was totally lost. Could somebody please explain what this means exactly? I'm Latin-American, so my english isn't 'natural'.

Thanks a lot.

When somebody is "in the dog house" that means that the person is in big trouble for something they did and is being punished.

Being in or at the dog house means that you have done something that has upset your spouse. For example, a husband goes out drinking and comes home late, he may tell his friends that he is in the dog house, meaning his wife will make him sleep with the dogs. Of course, one does not really have to sleep in the dog house, it is just a saying.

When they say 'you're in the dog house' it means that you have been so bad that your wife has kicked you out of her bed and you have to sleep alone. or in the dog house....

what it means is when a person is in the doghouse that they've done something wrong in their mates eyes...and rather than them being allowed to sleep in the house like a person, they get to sleep outside with the dogs....good luck...
