The WINNIPEG JETS ever return to the NHL and STANLEY CUP?

Possibly... Especially now that the salary cap makes it possible for a small market team to be competitive without breaking the bank... Winnipeg's best bet is to attempt to buy the Penguins and move them... There will be no expansion, and Pittsburgh's on shaky ground until they get an arena deal...

Hmm... it seams as though some hockey "fans" don't remember the Winnipeg Jets. Well, you obviously do as do I. (For those who don't: the Jets are a name of an American Football club as well as a NHL team that moved to the States in 1996.)

Anyway, there was a pre-season NHL game hosted in Winnipeg a couple of weeks ago and there were advocates for bringing back an NHL team to Winnipeg. Despite some strong feelings from some fans, I don't think Winnipeg has enough fan support for an NHL team at this time. I really doubt that NHL will come back to Winnipeg at all in the next 10 years.

Highly unlikely. New arena there is nice but NHL is all about corporate sponsors and Winterpeg is too small a market. As far as Stanley Cup. if Winnipeg do get back in I hope they do as they were pioneers in the WHA with that air hockey style the Oilers copied. they deserve it as far as hockey history goes but, sadly, I cannot see the NHL moving back.

They will return to the NHL if Ron Pollock is voted mayor of Winnipeg otherwise they will not. Whether they win the Stanley Cup then is matter of chance.

I don't think so, based on the current NHL. The Jets never
even made it past the second round of the Stanley Cup
playoffs as far as I can recall.

No, Winnipeg may have a new arena but it is not big enough for NHL standards. They'd be hard pressed to turn a profit with an arena that holds fewer than 16,000 people.

As long as Bettman's around no, don't count on it. The Penguins new owner from what I understand has no real interest in bringing a team to Winnipeg. It's either Pittsburgh, Hamilton or Kitcherner.

Don't count on the JETS ever returning though. Phoenix owns the "Jets" so a team in Winnipeg would either have to think of a new name OR purchase the naming rights from the Coyotes.

They'll return to the NHL when Gary Bettman's not commisioner anymore. For some reason, he wants to develop in the US where no one there really cares about hockey and not in Canada where hockey's our sport. If Winnipeg fans ever want to see their team back again, they've got to get Bettman out of the way. Some one who really cares about hockey should be commisioner. How about Wayne Gretzky? He's been a player, a coach and a manager. He's seen hockey from many prespectives; he knows what's best for our game. GET LOST, BETTMAN!!

Well, Pittsburgh was just bought by a Canadian, and if they can't get a new arena build there, I'm sure they'll be looking for a new home eh. As far as the Cup? Don't ask cause my answer isn't in your favour.

well hopefully one day...would love to see winnipeg get a franchise and a seventh canadian team in the league...i am hoping they move the Penguins to manitoba and if that ever happens that means detroit can be moved to the eastern conference and then realign all the divisions in the western conference properly!
