I am referring to cameras that you put on the peephole of your door that look outside. They can be good for security.

I just wonder how well they work as far as being able to see anything. And I didn't find any that had a motion sensor, so it looks like you'd be scrolling through hours of footage to find anything of use.

You can check your local "Spy Store" Most big city's have them. Check the phone book.

They can work quite well, and the store usually has demo's and help installation. I know they can be quite popular. They usually also have nanny cams and other fun sundries. And if you are in the US don't worry they aren't illegal. (So long as you use them the way you described!)

There are alot of computer programs that will do motion detection with a webcam, so you might be able to come up with a cheap solution if you have an old computer laying around somewhere. I use some of these in my own home.

If you can get one with a wide angle lens and low lux they work fine. You can connect it to your pc and use motion detection software to have it only record when something is in front of the cam.

Apparently, yes; my neighbor used one in our apt. bldg, sadly, he got caught. You can write him at Sing-Sing, he's got lots of time to correspond. (this is all true). Be very careful what you write down on the web, it could be conscrued as intent to commit a felony.OK?
