Coming up I ate *a lot* of steaks and hogies, and if you are from Philly you know what I mean by steaks. After joining the military, I tried to replicate the great taste overseas, . . . and having worked in a hogie shop, I knew how to make both well, . . . but I just couldn't get the taste right. Then I realized . . . it is the bread. What bread do we use for our hogies back home?

You were probably raised on Amoroso's Rolls for Cheese Steaks and Hogies. The roll is the essential ingredient. You can contact Amoroso's at 215-471-4740 and they may be able to ship to you. i would suggest parmesan oregano bread for both of them
they are mostly recommended for subs but i have tried them on steaks and hoagies and i think it tasted great
u should try it one time

french or italian bread is good. Don't get the generic kinds, it'll get too soggy.
