I only clip coupons for items that I use and take advantage of double coupon stores. I compare the value of the coupon item against store brand merchandise. Sometimes the store brand is still cheaper and just as good. Only you know if you are going to use the coupons or not. Trade coupons with friends for things that you use so you both win. Sometimes I just leave coupons by products for things that I don't use to let the next guy use them if I am not going to.

Yes, you can save money. But as you state, you could buy more than you need.
Also, there may be other similar products that cost LESS than the other product even with the coupon. Always comparison shop when using a coupon!
