I have a Suzuki Sidekick, 1991, and the emergency brake light stays on even though the emergency brake is dis-engaged. The light is dimmer when the emergency brake is disengaged, but it stays lit.

We would run into this when I worked at a suzuki dealership. Get it checked, it could be the brake switch, wiring or the brake cable itself, usually the brake switch needs changing.

The emergency light switch isn't opening. Pull out on the release release handle and then REACH down to the emergency brake pedal and pull it up. I think your light will probably go out.

I had a pickup that used to do that. IF the light still doesn't go out, you need to either adjust the switch or have it adjusted by a repairman The other possibility is that the switch could be bronken and needs to be replaced. Pops

Pull up your emergency brake. Slide your fingers inside the rubber boot that the handle slides up and down in, look down by the base of the handle with a flashlight. There should be a plunger switch with a wire coming out of it. Clean it with some canned air. Then spray with a small amount of silicone lubricant. that should free the plunger switch, and the light will go out.

i own a repair shop, and you need to look in under the car and see if the cable has released all the way ,i have done a few of the side kicks that the cable don't release all the way on,and it makes the light stay on all the time,,all you have to do is pull a little on it,and if its stuck it will release it its normal for them to stick a little when they get a few miles on the ,the cable gets a little dirty and it don't allow it to release real good on it, i have seen a lot of them do it,,its an easy fix, good luck i hope this help,s.

Could be wiring, could also be a low brake fluid indication. Do you have a low petal, too? Have your brakes bled and recharged with fluid at Jiffy Lube or something.

its the brake system sensor..your brake pads may need replacing, your rotors maybe warped, or your ebrake is getting caught.

your brake fluid also may need replacing/filling
