I've been studying for about a month now (Kaplan, ETS, vocab. resources - memorized over 1000 common GRE words) and my test date is this Fri. I just took a practice test my verbal score was 20 pts. lower than when I took the test last year. I need to get the verbal score to 700 at least (I'm 90 pts. away). Any ideas on how to improve other than what I'm currently doing?

Well, since you have already taken the courses, the best bet is to study the word families that Kaplan provides. Also, make sure that you are getting the HARD questions especially on Reading Comprehension and Analogies. I would make sure to follow all the tips they give you on those two sections because there is a method to those. I found these things to be the most helpful. Also, I would not be concerned with a twenty point difference in scores, they fluctuate from time to time.

Good Luck!

Why do you need a 700??? That's extremely high. I think you're doing everything you can, memorizing roots, suffixes, prefixes, may help you also. And, practicing the reading questions. Good luck.

Relax, the more you stress the more pressure that you put on yourself which is negative reinforcement.
