I haven't heard anything about this. Do this rule apply to every walmart in the country? Where are you from?

You are correct. At some Walmart stores the last day they will be accepting lay-a-way is 11/19/06 with a 12/20/06 date to pick up all layaways. The
Can't remeber where I read small print- stated that sales are down due to people using the Internet to shop. This statement by Walmart is hard to believe.

Wal-Mart is only doing away with layaways after this Christmas season. The use of layaways has declined drastically in previous years. They are going to start offering more financing options.
HOWEVER, no fear, KMART will still offer the layaway IF the items are ever in stock.

I heard about that too. Of course I haven't used the Walmart layaways since I was a minimum wager. They are doing it because they keep losing money b/c people will back out of big ticket items and now they have a product they no longer stock so they just have get rid of it. They have just lost way too much money doing it. It kind of sucks for people who like to use them for Christmas and School shopping, but chalk it up to the deadbeats who bail on their responsibilities.
I guess you are just going to have to save the money over time that you would have paid each month on the layaway and hope the product is still there when you can buy it. Sorry!

One word. People are putting stuff on layways and not coming back for it. That from a supply side is a nightmare. You don't have an accurate count of what you have, restock, additional departments, which mean more cost and manager time.
