Around 9 months, "they" say that babies gradually eat less formula and eat more solids. Our daughter seems like she is perfectly content with just formula and little tiny meals and snacks. She is 8 months now and she drinks about 35 ounces of formula a day and 3 meals and 2 snacks. Her meals consist of the equivalent of about 1/4 peice of toast or 3 grapes or up to 2 ounces of applesauce for example. Snacks are like 4 cheerios or the sort.
She spits out any food we try to put in her mouth as she wants to self feed, so she's not getting much.
Do you think that she will cut back on the amount of formula so that by a year she will have cut back to the 3 cups of milk with the solid meals and snacks?
Any suggestions?

I wouldn't worry about it. She'll turn around in her own time. Maybe if you introduce more water or diluted clear juice she'll be hungrier for more solids, and if you offer the solids before the formula, when she's hungriest. I'm breastfeeding, but my daughter always comes to me to top off the tank after meals. They like what they like, and if she wants to self feed, you might just have to wait until she's old enough for more grown up foods to back off the formula. She sounds like she has very definite ideas about things already. I have one like that and it's a lot of fun! Good luck!

There is no need to cut down on her formula.Maybe you could substitute 2 of those milk bottles with a half apple juice, half water. You don't have to reach a goal of her having three bottles a day and solid foods and snacks by age one. Before you know it she will have transitioned over to solids. You know shes not by far eating enough to go off her formula,so once she starts eating better,if you put her in her high chair and give her some cheerios a couple times a day before you know it she will be feeding herself like a pro. And then she won't want as many bottles. As long as shes healthy thats all that matters.

She'll start eating more soon. My little boy was the same way. He'll be a year old in 2 weeks and now it seems like I can't fill him up. he only gets about 16 ozs of formula a day now...and we're weening him onto milk. But he's at least snacking every hour or two, along with having 3 meals every day. Pretty good sized meals now. Don't worry, as she grows she'll want more.

I would have to say yes. My twins are 11 months old and so ready to kick to formula habit.

They were on NeoSure for 9 Months because they were preemies. We were finally able to take them off that 22 calorie diet and just give them the regular DHA/ARA Similac formula.

They are not too keen on this milk anymore. And, I am glad. But,they are also not big fans of water or juices.

Right now, I just give my girls two bottles per day. one 8oz in the AM and one 8oz in the PM. That is what they like, so that is what they get.

She'll learn there are more exciting foods out there to try. And when you slowly switch to whole milk, it may not be as filling as the formula was so she'll want to eat more foods.

i might advise getting the 'extensive' nipple bottles. Alot extra women human beings who BF and ought to pump have long previous to them too. I strongly urge you to not provide a bottle till toddler is a minimum of two-3 mos previous (that's as quickly as we in many cases circulate decrease back to artwork/college besides). by making use of then they are properly generic nursers, so is your milk furnish and that they're going to wish mommy (and her heat temperature, nearness, convenience etc) over the bottle.
