Mr. Renegade, are you kidding? Isn't the work of the convervatives already finished? I mean, most of the jobs went off to foreign countries, and the businessmen got their money.

It needs a hipper downtown. They have the beginnings of some very cool condos (old buildings to be refurbished), but people won't move down there unless they can stay for food, livelihood, and entertainment. They also need to diversify the jobs down there (other than GM). There is such a tremendous drain on resources from the state as a whole...I just think the city government is a bit corrupt. Also, I don't think the people that work downtown are very friendly. When I go to downtown Chicago, I always think, "they are so friendly and helpful". I don't get that in Detroit.

Flint's problem is that there are no jobs. They need something to recruit companies. It will be interesting to see how the Kalamazoo Promise works for that city. It seems to me that if that works for Kalamazoo, it may work for even more depressed cities.

I think there is hope for Flint, but I would abandon Detroit if I were you. The lay-offs that Ford announced is going to make our Michigan economy even worse, so I'm not sure how much hope there is. I'm representing Livingston County, out in the country, where US23 and M59 meet. It's ok over here. I have no answer to how to revitalize the metropolitan areas. I fled them and am happier.

It needs what prompted the Manchester, UK overhaul - a nice bomb. Since the IRA did their stuff back in '96, this place has changed beyond anyone's imagination. Every day I discover new buildings that weren't there before.

Either restoring or demolishing dilapidated buildings and fixing the roads would be good place to start.

This is an easy one, get rid of all the liberals, and get some right wing Conservatives. That's how you will revitalize it, clean it up and make it respectable again...

Get rid of the powers that (supposedly) be.
