It's the most basic or bottom of the line that you can get as far as DSL goes. I'm not sure where you live, but if you were able to go with SBC or AT&T you would have a lot more to chose from as far as packages.

The other alternative is Broadband through your cable company, which usually offers around 6 Mps.

However, one of the problems with Broadband is it suffers a degradation in speed at peek times, when the other people in your neighborhood are trying to use it at the same time. You would not have this problem with DSL, because you have a dedicaded line.

The DSL service rides on your wired phone service line, and you would just use the filters they provide you with the package you get to seperate the two. It's actually very easy to set up, so easy that most people set them up themselves these days.

Back when I first got DSL, when it first came out, an installer had to come out and set my computer up and everything, but that was about 12 years ago or so.

.national-comcast

Broadband National has some of the best deals on high speed Internet. Right now they are offering Comcast for only $19.99 a month for the first 6 months. At the time of this review the offer also includes: $100.00 Cash Back* FREE Cable Modem* FREE Wireless Router* I've known people who have signed up for Comcast Internet through Broadband National, customer service is great. Unlike other companies I have dealt with if you have a problem with your service Comcast will send someone out to fix it.

Unlimited high-speed internet access with always-on connections nationwide
Strong Protection with Blocker Tools & Parental Controls

786 is very good for a home user. If you share yor internet connection or have a wireless router and many computers using that connection i would recommend going a little higher to 1024.

However if the price is right keep the 786.

It depends what you want to use the net for. If you're using it just to chat to friends and not really downloading anything, it's fine.
If you want to download bigger files, then you'll really need faster Internet.
