I have a mix cd given to me by a student. On it is a song that is slow and jazz like. I just want to ascertain it's artist and album.

Maybe the info is on the CD. Put it on your computer, open it with Windows Media Player. If there's embedded info about the song, like artist and song name, it will come up.

in Yahoo search "lyrics followed by a few words from the song" I do it all the time. It took me 10 years to find a song but I found it recently this way. It was "Grey Flap" by Piston by the way. Search it like this.... lyrics the roof is on fire
Good luck

If you live in the UK you can dial the number off your phone '2580', then you play the music down the line. They send you a text afterwards with the name and title of the song hopefully!
