If the vote were on the ballot, would you vote yes or no for gay marriage?
Why either way?

YES, because I know so many hetero couples who have kids without being married because they don't want responsibility or that break up because they can't handle the responsibility or commitment. It just seems a shame that if someone is going to make a real go of being a family, they should be able to.

I'd vote yes without a doubt. First of all, the argument that "the bible says you shouldn't" isn't a valid reason, due to seperation of church and state. America isn't under the rule of the church. There are hindu's, muslims, jews, atheists, thousands of different religions out there who don't all follow the bible, so it's not ethical to list that as a reason. Second of all, what's wrong with gay marriage? It's two people getting married. That's it. Their wedding wouldn't affect your own marriage, and it's not hurting anyone. The statistics that say children should be raised by two parents? It's true, but what that study is from is a study on children coming from single parents vs. a home where there are two adults. It's not saying a house with one man and one woman. Some of the most loved and best adjusted children are from homosexual families. For goodness sakes, if you're worried about the children of the US, we should be doing a better job of getting them out of abusive homes, from parents who don't know enough to take decent care of a child.

It was on the ballot last time I voted and I chose yes and I would still vote yes. This is what I think, we should all have the chance to love and be happy in life. And if that means being gay, oh well, who are we to judge?? This is between the couple and God. It's none of our business and nongays need to butt out and leave gay couples alone and let them get married if it pleases them to do so!!

The way you ask the question is part of the reason that there is so much confusion and conflict on the issue. It's more about civil rights than it is marriage, from my understanding of what the overall gay population wants.

It is my understanding that a minority of gays really care about the whole "marriage" thing and that the majority are more concerned about equal rights with regard to healthcare benefits, right to adopt, and other civil rights shared by hetero-marrieds and even hetero-co-habitants.

Under those conditions, I'd be anti-"marriage", but pro civil rights. The vocal folks about marriage are the same ones starting to ask for divorces...it's not about marriage...again, it's about equal and civil rights.

Someone has an agenda with the quesiton...as every "No" get a thumbs down, even though the reasons are vastly different.

Yes for gay marriage, definitely.

Who am I to deny a couple the right to belong? It is the 21st Century. We have to move beyond censoring a biological issue. It is not even open for debate, if they were just born that way. And if they weren't, it isn't your business anyway.

There are far more serious problems in society to be picking on love, for gawd's sake.

I would vote yes. Gay marriage harms me in no way, and I suspect it is healthier for everybody concerned that two people have a stable relationship, insurance, and common courtesy and rights extended to them.

yes! the only argument i've ever heard anyone use against it is that being gay "isn't natural". A rich argument in a world where we drive cars, eat garbage, watch hours of tv, hang out in the AC and answer questions to strangers across the world.

I would vote yes. All people deserve the same reognition of a committed union and the rights that are afforded heterosexual married people.

Knot, linch em by their guys lol...
no simply for the humbugery thats been gone through to get here...
put my way, women not easy but i like trying and mum knows i'm a known quitter...
thats not to promote falling away from closer relationships in men though we can be too uptight and yes to lesbian couples...
women do everything better than men, i mean where is the dignity in having sex anyway and whats this fascination with sexuality, it all goes where it don't mean to stay and away it goes...
