You'll be sitting in box seats, most likely a private box since they are typically sold to patrons per season. Attire to see the ballet is usually a suit for the gentleman and a modest dress or a skirt and nice sweater for the lady. If you're going opening night, formal wear is typically called for. Evening dress for males, (tuxedo or dress pants and dinner jacket) gown for the ladies.

The Nutcracker is slightly different, since there are usually children there, and it is Holiday oriented. Dress is usually a little more casual for this show for these reasons. Just wear something nice, and enjoy the show.

Those are box seats.

its called a box. their some of the most expensive seats, but often have quite poor views (especially in London west end theatres). They were originally used for the upper classes to display themselves, thir clothes & wealth, rather than to watch the play in.

what to wear? well, it depend on which theatre. Some theatres, especially opera houses (which generally show ballet as well, because they are often sister companies. theres alot of history to that - the best ballet companies used to provide the dancing chorous for opera, and often big new operas had musical pieces written in specifically for the ballet company), have a dress code, so find out what that is, because if your not up to it, you may get turned away (and no refund on your ticket price).

if thers no dress code, just smart-casual will be fine, no need to go all out.
