Mark Foley is a US Representative from Florida, who was having lurid sex chats with a 16-year old male congressional page. He was known to do this for quite sometime and had many powerful capitol hill friends cover up his misdeeds. Now the truth is all out and so Rep. Foley has resigned ,hoping that would cure the problem, but then it comes out he is a notorious alcoholic and now in rehab and also admitted to being gay, and tried to use a sick defense of saying he was molested by a priest when he was 12, which is doubtful, probably a pity excuse.

The scandal is basically this : he is a pedophile and abused his political powers. The scandal has hightend with new claims that Speaker of the House Denis Hastert knew of this problem as early as 2003 and knowingly covered up for Rep. Foley.

In any case they need to throw this sick freak in prison and show no clemency for him just because he is a politician. They crucified President Clinton for sexual misconduct but it was NOT molestation, so this guy needs the axe. Whether you're Republican or Democrat, this is not a partisan issue, this is a matter of right and wrong, both sides agree this guy needs prison.

Foley is a man who was elected to office.
Many times.
He liked to e-mail to a lot of people.
Some of his e-mails were to teens that worked for him in Washington. I believe they called the "pages." But I am not sure what benefit they get from working in Washington for Free!
Anyway, one of the "pages" thought he was asking too personal questions. So the page complained, the press found out. Made a BIG deal out of it,
And then Foley QUIT.
To the press, sounds like GUILTY! of doing something wrong.
Everyone in politics jumps on the issue, guilty or not? And who else knew about his e-mails.
And for us in the public, who cares?

Now Foley is hiding. Says he is gay, on alcohol treatment, etc, etc. Again, who cares?

Much will be investigated. Much will be written. Many fingers will be pointed. Foley will retire with a very big pension, and then become a public speaker.

Stopping the deaths in iraq is more important than what foley did, or did not, with emails.

But Foley is news. Whether we like it or not!
