I thought some of the answers were rather harsh. Do you mean a fantasy to read, or you want to write one?
I don't read fantasy, but I believe some of the elements are magic, fantastic creatures, unusual ways of travel: teleportation, flying, etc. creatures that talk and have magic powers, spells. Harry Potter is fantasy.
