If I do it, it's because I think the guy looks cute or nice, or he looks like he's having a bad day and could do with some positive human interaction.

Yeah it drives me mad too. Smiling at me like they own the place. Well Ill show them, one of these days Ill show everyone. Yeah whos smiling now, whos smiling now. Thats what Ill say when Im getting even with everyone.

Because we love to watch their reaction, and tease guys. its fun. lol. or maybe you're hot, or to be nice/feel sorry for u, or cuz it's better than giving you a blank stare or the evil eye. depends what kind of smile it is, and our facial expression.
