I think the name of it was Home Going, I know that a verse from it is "when you hear my home going don't worry about me". It was a record in the 60's I believe. Does anyone know who sang this song, where I can find the lyrics and perhaps a copy of the song. Please help me find this.

The name of the song is "When You Hear My Homegoing", which was done by Mahalia Jackson. No luck in finding the lyrics.

Are you sure it's not "I'm going home"? These are the words to the chorus of the gospel song:

I'm going home. Praise God, I'm home at last.
I'm going home. When on earth the trials are past.
No more worries, no more woes,
Nothing but beauty and joys are told.
I'm going home. I'm home at last.

Then there are two versions made in the 60's. One by Alvin Lee, he sang it at Woodstock and the one by Arlo Gunthre, the lyrics are below.

Arlo Gunthre I'm Going Home
words and music by Arlo Guthrie
Like the tree that grows so tall
Leaves turn gold and then they fall
They've gone down, now they've grown
They're going home
Mountain streams may run and flow
Clean the sands on which they go
Stretching down like it had known
It's going home
Sunrise early in the dawn
Slips away, then it's gone
Leaves the night to carry on
While it's going home
Once a man he lived and died
What he said death could not hide
Even though it's often tried
But he was going home
Now my friends it's time to go
And this love will live to grow
And I want you all to know
I'm going home

I hope this helped.

I hope this is the one you want:

The hymn is "Going Home", set to the music of Dvorak's 9th Symphony, third movement.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

Words are by William Arms Fisher and Ken Bible.
