I am confused about how all these services inter-relate. Is Outlook Express in competition with Yahoo? How is it different from MSN? Microsoft Explorer is simply a Browse/Search Engine, right?

A Mail Server/Client is basically the program in which you input your email. So, you can use Outlook Express with Yahoo. With Outlook Express, go into Tools and then Email accounts and then input the information. Internet Explorer - I.E. - is more than simply a Search Engine. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/about/features/default.mspx

Outlook express is an email program that works with POP3 mail accounts. Yahoo (free version) is a web based email program and can't be configured to work with outlook. If you have an email address from your isp that most likely is a pop3 capable account and all your have to do is go to you isp's web site and find out what the settings are if you wish to set up outlook express to recieve your email.

Good luck.

Outlook is just a mail program on your computer. It handles mail using the MAPI protocol. Most mail servers (Yahoo!, MSN, etc) are web-based. There is no competition.

As far as making Outlook your default mail server, it makes no difference if you are using Yahoo! or MSN or the like.
