Yes it will help if you get MIRENA. If you get the Paraguard you are more likely to get worse cramps and heavier periods. It may take a while for your body to adjust and you will get cramping the 1st few weeks but after that you will be free of cramps. I get horrible cramps and super heavy periods and since on mirena I havent experienced neither
Now about wat the previous poster put about Infections its not that the IUD causes infections its that its harder to treat that's why its recommended that a woman be in a serious committed relationship! Critters do not climb up the strings! its no different if you didn't have it in what they only climb string and not walls?? Makes no sense but anyways you have to be in a committed relationship and you may face sterility but a slim chance of it

My gynecologist and regular doctor both recommended me to the mirena hormonal IUD. I had it put in 5 days ago... I have had light cramping for these days as my body begins to get used to it... but it doesn't begin to compare to the HORRIBLE cramping and vomitting i have experienced for the past ten years. My cramps have been SO horrible... I had tried everything and the only thing that helped was the death-inducing Vioxx! :oP
My doctors tell me that this IUD will really help my menstrual cramps. IUDs are the norm in Europe and most women I have talked to in Europe seem to love them and have little cramping at all. I am so thankful for this option and look forward to cramp free periods for the first time in ten years!! :)

There's no ought to insert an IUD while you've already had your fallopian tubes clipped. What's the deal~you tryin' to avert double being pregnant for further degree? IUD's were recognized to intent a few severe part-results, however on this case, you are gonna ought to see your health practitioner once more in any other case have your IUD eliminated.

GOOD GOD NO!!!! If anything, it will make the cramping worse, because your body will try to expel the foreign object in your uterus! DO NOT get an IUD to try to alleviate cramps. You will be SO sorry.
See a different doctor and maybe start trying different pills or even consider the shot. In many cases, your period stops entirely within the first 6-12 months of use. No period = no cramps (or pms, bloating, b!tchiness, cravings, etc).

NO!!! And one could make them worse. Not only that, but you could get a pelvic inflammatory disease which could make you sterile. That little piece of line that hangs down into the vagina for you to check once in a while to make sure it's there? Perfect little ladder for bacteria of all kinds to climb up.
Please try some other way.
