Perhaps it has for some people, but let's look at the other side of the coin .... for many many people who are homebound, or otherwise isolated, for whatever reasons, it has opened up the world to them in a way never possible before!
For people like me, who before had limited contact with the outside world, it means being able to communicate with, fellowship, and inter-relate with people, as well as having access to information (i.e. books, libraries, etc) and shopping, without ever leaving home!

I think it would do that no more than TV has already done for people - couch potatoes... I may be here at times, but I am also out in the open air going for walks, working full time, enjoying my husband, grown children and grandchildren, and doing a lot of other things. I was already a 'homebody' in the way that I enjoy being home, but I think the internet has not been a large part of life for me. I do enjoy being online for this, games, talking to faraway relatives and friends, and gaining knowledge when not sure of something. Research is fabulous online if you know what sites will be truthful.

Heck yea-
When I was a kid-we all actually played with each other outside. We wrote letters and made phone calls.
Technology is killing our society in a way that makes it easy for people to be cruel and unkind, because they can say mean things to people- without seeing the pgysical results of their actions.
