The Syrian ruler appears to make preparatory justification in a statement Saturday, Oct. 7, that he expects an Israeli attack.
He was speaking in an interview to Kuwaiti paper al-Anba.
Assad’s Iranian-backed war plan would serve the purpose of forcing the Americans to divide their military assets between a strike against Iran and the defense of their allies in the Persia Gulf, Israel and US forces in Iraq. Both are seriously looking at a Syrian attack on the Golan which would escalate into a full-blown Syrian-Israeli war and a second Hizballah assault from Lebanon.
Asad’s remark that during the Lebanon hostilities, he was under pressure from the Syrian population to go to war against Israel and liberate the Golan is the most direct threat of belligerency of all his four Golan statements in the last month. He is implying that he stood up to the pressure once but may not do so again.
The Syrian ruler would not threaten war without guarantees from Iran. Assad and Iran’s supreme ruler Ayatollah Ali Khamenei are prompted by the following motives:
Tehran is not prepared to wait passively for the Americans to build up their assault force in the Gulf and strike its nuclear facilities. A pre-emptive attack would suit them better.
Syria now believes that if Hizballah could stand up to the Israeli army in Lebanon, its commandoes can capture sections of the Golan and walk off with an easy victory.

Everyday gulf states are preparing to strike Israel - it is though that Israel is very good at protecting it's airspace and it's borders - they practice everyday...and their armaments are supplied to them by the United States and France.
They have the best Air Force in the world...they have to be the best, when their borders can be crossed end to end in twenty minutes in an bomber or fighter aircraft.
Israel did not even begin to fight Hezbollah. They were not fighting Lebanon, remember. Israel has no problem also with making pre-emptive strikes of their own. I don't know if you remember but in the 80's Israeli F-16's bombed a Nuclear Power Plant in Iraq.

Israel can defeat the combined militaries of every country in the region, simultaneously. When was the last time even one bullet left Syria or Iran (directly) headed towards Israel?
Not since 1973, and they are not stupid enough to do it now, especially since we have so much military hardware already in the region as well.

We the (USA) should stay out of that part of the world... they have been killing each other since the begining of time. This is their fight not ours... why should we impose our views on them? let things happen as they will, all we are doing is making their enemies ours. For all the millions of dollars and unconditional political, economic and military help we give them... what have we actually gotten from Israel? And NO the religious argument doesnt hold water... people cant use that as the excuse to stick our nose in their business, the Crusades should of thought us something.

I don`t know if they are but if they are, that`s their RIGHT. Because we USA are the ones who made that rule. so if we can do it, why not anyone else, and don`t give me that we r more responsible than them, they didnot enslaved people, they didnot use Atomic bombs, they donot dream of imperialism.
I hope all the republicans and folks like Bush, and Stupid Israel primeminister would calm down so we can have peace in the world.I know Ya`all are not accustomed to the peace but you might like it.

I support Israel, alot..And so does my country, America..If they are, they will get unlimited funding from our government..And w/ Israel's agression (Like ours, Americas) they would extremly stupid because Israel has Nukes
