i'm a big fan of family guy, then i watched an episode of "that's so raven" on the disney channel today, and noticed that they used an extremely similar plot.

An older woman, former famous singer, is now a crabby old woman who is afraid to leave her house.. but when a volunteer is assigned to care for the woman, the woman becomes happy and leaves the house for the first time in "years".

Brian from family guy experienced this, as well as Raven.

Did anyone else notice?

I love "Family Guy" and I remember that episode but I dont watch "Thats So Raven". But, my english teacher said last year that every TV show can be traced back to the works of Shakespeare....Many episodes from "Friends" follow the idea of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and a large percentage of stories can be traced from "Romeo and Juliet". I dont think that "Raven" was copying "Family Guy" but rather re-using a popular idea that I'm sure has been recycled many times with various interpretations...
great observation on the plot lines!

I do not watch the Raven show, but, I do watch Family Guy and I did see that episode when Brian the dog found out that she used to be a great sinser and that was why she was so mad because she use to love doing what she do and she could not do it anymore. So, he took care of her and got a Virtuall Reality kit where they got married and had "kids and puppies" before she died.
So, if Raven had the same thing, then, it would be considered a coincidence that both shows would use the same topic.

Ys I noticed. I also know that alot of shows "borrow" ideas from past shows and use them as their storylines. Look at how many sitcoms share storylines with I Love Lucy

No, I do not watch both shows. Is there such a thing as copyright for tv show plots? It usualy takes weeks to shoot episodes so maybe they steal ideas from each other. What do you think?

They can steal from Famil Guy as long as they keep making new ones!
