Is it ok to leave a wireless transmitter box on 24/7? my dad says it could burn out and its not very good for the box as it could overheat. Is this true?

I always leave mine on and have had it for 4 years. Just make sure youare password protected- so no one uses your network.

I always leave mine on. The only time this was a problem was when the electiricty people switched in the sub-station and sent a surge down the line which knock my box out but I suppose that could have happened any time

Weve had a wireless box since they came out, and its never been off yet. Course we had to get a new one when lightening struck it but they are fine to leave on 24/7.

Mine has been on for the last 2 years, but if you're not using it 24/7 and you wan't to get in your Dad's good books - turn it off. It will only take a minute to boot up and you're Dad will think you've actually listened to him for once!!

Yes as long as your wireless connection is encrypted. By turning on WEP. It won't burn out if you leave it on, thats just an excuse to save electricity. Mine has been on for 5 years now.

I suppose it might have a slightly shorter life if it's on all the time, but since it's solid-state, that's unlikely. I leave mine on 24/7 - who wants to reboot it all the time?

It should be perfectly fine but always take precautions to protect yourself:

1) Use a surge protector
2) Use a RCD circuit breaker
3) Make sure you have a working smoke/heat detector in the same room: THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE.

Always be careful.

you can check it after some time of use to see if it's heating up. and you can see if it has a cooler or some other device like that.

As long as it is connected to a fused plug there should be no problem.
