Recently my computer is not wokring properly. When I turn it on, I can't click anything. I can move the mouse around but it doesnt click anything. I have to use my keyboard to move around.
Then when the desktop is loaded up, I am not able to click either. I opened the start menu using the keyboard but it disapperas after a few seconds. So I quickly clicked firefox to open it up and search for possible solutions. However once it is opened up, I cant type sometimes and if I do type, it loads different random screens at times. If I click on something on the left, nothing happens. 2 minutes later, something from the right side of the screen pops up.
I tried using the virusscan I have installed to remove it (if IT IS a virus). I used Earthlink's Total Protection control center. It didn't detect anything but some spyware and malware and thiefware. It removed those items. Still the problem isn't fixed. So I went to trend-micro's online virus scan but it didnt detect anything.
What do I do?

I ran Spybot and it didnt detect anything really. I don't even know if it will let me install aprogram because it is very hard to maneuver around.
Can I use system restore and restore it to a week ago before the problem happened? Is it possible that system restore will fix it?
Or is system restore too riskey? I don't mind if Ilose everything I did in the last week, but reformatting it would wipe everything out. So is sytem restore the best option?
Please help, thanks

Print this out for Win XP:
First, Win doesn't like a LOT of Icons on it's desktop so clean up "your act"! I know it's hard to do but it IS possible!
Disconnect from the internet. Make sure your puter is clean of any malware, cookies, files, history, etc.
Try a system restore.
Click Start>Contol Panel>Performance and Maintenance. Up in the left hand corner you should be able to see where is says "System Restore" If not the click on the little arrows next to "See Also" to get it to drop down. Choose Restore to an Earlier time and pick a date that you know your puter worked RIGHT on. Do the Restore.
Then, go to Start>Run and type in msconfig. Pick the Startup Tab and UNcheck EVERYTHING. This shuts off all running programs INCLUDING your antivirus/antimalware stuff. That's why I said to disconnect from the net. Reboot.
Then Click My Computer>Right click Drive C>select Properties do a Disk Cleanup. Then select the Tools Tab. Click through the prompts to set "error checking" but do not restart when asked.
Then click on Defragment Now. If you haven't done this in a while it will take a while to run. If you've never done it then it most likely will take several hours.
After you've Defragged then go back to msconfig and the Startup Tab and check ONLY the programs you want running in the background like your antivirus, etc. Don't worry about the others. You can STILL use them, they just won't be running in the background eating up resources and slowing your machine.
Reset the Disk Cleanup, reboot and then go back to System Restore and MAKE a Restore Point.
Hook back up to the net with a CLEAN, faster, FIXED computer!

The quality technique to manage a deadly disease is both a System Recovery or set up home windows once more. No antivirus will wholly do away with a deadly disease as soon as its to your laptop - notably on the grounds that those one that you've sound like dangerous boys System Recovery- whilst you flip to your laptop there will likely be a monitor pronouncing some thing like: F1=Setup F2=Boot Menu F10= System Recovery Press and preserve the method restoration button (it can be specific to your laptop) and comply with the sensible steps. This will one hundred% do away with the viruses but in addition any stored records, pics, movies, records and so on. So again up the fundamental ones or any you wish to maintain (use a USB key or an outside rough force) Re- putting in Windows: This most effective works if u have a home windows set up disk Turn at the laptop, insert the disk, then close off the laptop Turn it on once more there will likely be a monitor pronouncing "press any key besides from Cd/DVD" press any key you wish to It will carry you to home windows setup and its quality to put in a blank replica of home windows no longer a fix comply with the stairs after remember to layout the rough force to take away each and every dossier and virus

Start your computer in safe mode (hit f8 on boot until boot menu appears) With the computer in safe mode it would be interesting to see if your mouse is still a problem. You may want to use a different mouse to see if it's the culprit. But anyway on with the advice.
Go to Start>Run and type in "msconfig" (no quotes) and hit enter. Click on the startup tab. Uncheck anything that is not your firewall, antivirus, software... Select OK but don't restart. Run and antivirus scan, spyware scan, and see if anything more is detected. Restart your computer.
Is there any improvement? If there is the culprit most likely is one of the programs that didn't get a chance to load at start up. My advice leave them disabled, most programs don't need to start at boot up. Only your antivirus, firewall, spyware detector software.
Here are some good programs to use periodically.
Ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ cleans temp files fixes registry problems
Clean Cache 3.5 clears system cache (for system speed up)http://buttuglysoftware.com/
Spybot http://spybot.com/en/index.html a nice free spyware program
Good Luck

Check your mouse settings in the control panel. If it's setup correctly, you probably need a new one.

The only thing that comes into my mind is either re-booting the comp, or take it to your local electronic hardware center and asking them what the problem is.
