Usually it's best to call a doctor if you're not better within 3 days. You might have strep - you can get strep without having a fever. I would call a doctor and schedule an appointment.

You may also just have a sore throat from your sinus congestion. Many times, it's from the drainage that's going down the back of your throat. this will also make your throat irritated. You can also receive prescription medicine for this scenario also.

My rule of thumb has always been - if not better within 3 days or you know that your sickness is getting worse, it's best to see a doctor. It's better to go, than not to go. A doctor will either give you a prescription, or tell you which over the counter medicine would be better for you to use. That's what they're there for.

I'm not big on running to the doctor every time I have a sore throat. All they'll do is give you antibiotics. Sounds like you have a cold. No fever? You can breathe? You just have a sore throat? I'd wait it out and keep using over the counter stuff. You can ask a pharmacist for suggestions as to what would work best for you.

You really don't need a doctor for a "sore throat". This condition is caused by a common bacteria in the streptococci group and there are antibiotics in health stores that can be used. A doctor won't do more than prescribe one of those antibiotics that is effective against the bacteria. Your question was supposed to be what antibacteria drug is effective against the the bacteria causing your condition and that I really can't answer but a pharmacist at walmart of CV/S store can help you. So get thee up to the store.

If you can't talk, you need to see a doctor. I don't know, though -- I wouldn't want to go to an ER over the weekend for a sore throat. If it's not better by Monday, then call.

Could just be the average cold, but it could be something mroe serious. Perhaps you just have a little post nasal drip and need something to dry you up. Maybe you need an antibiotic for infected tonsils or sinus infection. Very hard to tell from where I am sitting. If you have had a fever then you probably want to go to the doctor.

If you're losing your voice, it's time to go check out your sore throat. It could be developing into something more than just a sore throat and you may need anti-biotics now.'

For right now, gargle with salt water, drink warm tea with honey, and skip karaoke night. Tonight, think about how you might tie a bandana or something similar around the top of your head, down around your chin to hold your jaw shut while you sleep. I'll bet you find after 2 days of TLC and sleeping with mouth shut you will feel better. Good luck.

You don't need to see a DR unless you are experiencing:
1- Swollen glands - palpable just under your jaw line and to either side of your voice box
2- fever greater than 101 F

You need to see a Doctor when you have a fever.
In the meantime keep drinking lots of fluids (non alcoholic).
Gargle with warm water and salt. (it works).

Not sure what you mean about not being much of a couch? Who is calling you a sofa?

If your throat feels like razor blades when you swallow,, then i would guess you have strep throat which is highly contagious.. You need a prescription for penicillin or something..
Good Luck
