How about "Forget Thee?" by john moultrie? The first verse is like this:
Forget thee? If to dream by night and muse on thee by day,
if all the worship deep and wild a poet's heart can pay,
If prayer in absence breathed for thee to heavens protecting power,
if winged thoughts that flit to thee-a thousand in an hour-
if busy fancy blending thee with all my future lot-
if this thou call'st forgetting thou, indeed, shalt be forgot!

I've always liked that one. Or how about The day is done by longfellow? Heres a small piece of it:

I see the lights of the village
gleam through the rain and the mist:
and a feeling of sadness comes over me
that my soul cannot resist.

A feeling of sadness and longing,
that is not akin to pain,
and resembles sorrow only
as the mist resembles rain.

Read from some humbler poet,
whose songs gushed from his heart,
as showers from the clouds of summer,
or tears from the eyelids start.

Such songs have power to quiet
the restless pulse of care,
and come like the benediction
that follows after prayer.

This is just a heavily abridged version of the poem, if you like it at all I recommend you read the whole thing. It's a beautiful poem, and one cannot get the full effect from just the few verses that I posted.

This is all I can suggest. Go to the library and tell the libraian what you just told "us" and she/he should know what type of poetry you're looking for. I would send you one of mine, but my book of poetry isn't published as of yet. Good luck
