If you had vaginismus, I would think it would be more painful for you to have a GYN exam, then inserting a tampon. It is the anxiety that causes the spasms. I have never had problems having a GYN exam, I don't have vaginismus, but I still cannot put in a tampon. I just cannot get it in where it feels comfortable, so I don't use them.
Like the person above, I don't understand why you would be having GYN exams if you are still a virgin. Doctors recommend that you don't have one until after you have lost your virginity. If you know your hymenal ring is broken, then a doctor must have told you that. If they did an exam with a speculum before, then it is that which broke her hymen.
As far as sex goes, hopefully your first time will be with someone who takes your virginity seriously and will gentle enough with you, that it will not be painful in any way, but enjoyable.

I have vaginismus and it comes and goes with my.mood. Like I can't get a tampon in when I'm feeling angry or tense but if in a great mood, no problem. It doesn't help to try n relax, the relaxed mood already has to be there. I can't have gyno exams except smear tests under valium, but I suspect that's because I'm never going to feel happy about them so my body's never going to be in the right mood and open up, whereas tampons are in a different context of just general life. Like sex is. I should think it depends upon the person and maybe you've just got a deep dislike of tampons n it's become ingrained in you, if that makes sense; I mean on a feelings level. Virgins also need smear tests.

a woman with vaginismus will generally have the same problem with tampons, exams, fingers, penis... if you have problems with tampons you may not be inserting at the best angle. i am not sure why you are getting gyn exams if you are a virgin though. they actually put a speculum in?

It could be, but my doctor told me that it is not good for women to use tampons and that's a fact they give you all kinds of problems and health issues.

tampon is not as flexible as penis n artificial lubrication is not as good as natural one[ from your vaginal when aroused ], don't worry about the first time penetration as it only happen once ! you should be able to get over it very fast n in no time your experience [ included your partner ] should bring you joy n pleasure ! having it the first time with someone you love [ husband may be ] should minimize your fear of pain ! for the time being please read to enhance your sex knowledge, from books, magazine, Internet etc etc. Cheer !

Use slim tampons. Ask your gyno next time you go. They can tell you everything that you need to know.
