i think its a studio choice, like why some have two discs, while others are double sided, or why some have the cardboard box w/ the plastic spine while others are all plastic, why some 2 disc sets have the 3 page format(jay and silent Bob) while Spider-man has the standard box with a swinging disc holder in the middle

The ones with 2 lock tabs are for ambidexterous peolpe.

I've also wondered that myself. maybe they think its a better movie so they want to keep you In suspense longer.
