i mean do you say 5,6,7,8 or 1,2,3 or what?

you say "cheer" on 3, 1,2,3
for example "broncos on 3" "1,2,3" "BRONCOS!"

There are different ways

one way is to call off with "1, 2, 3, 4" that is usually what people do in jr. high
another way is " and 5, 6, 7, 8"
then there's one girl who is designated to call off a cheer and usually that's during a football game where they cheer to the crowd and not to the court like a basketball game. The girl calls off what cheer and says the first line. The girls turn around and they start the cheer over when the girl is done calling it off.
