Research shows that the only students who benefit from streaming are those who are placed on the high-level tracks. Students placed in "remedial" or "non-academic" tracks tend to do worse in streamed environments than in academic situations where all students are in the same classes. This has been proven time and again by academic research.

Depends on how it is used.... and how good your equipment is!

I work with a very rural low socio-economic population. My students respond to great to streaming but, I only use pieces, never a whole episode. I have had issues with streaming directly due to bandwidth issues, or speed....so I tend to download first to alleviate that problem. That's the one things students HATE ...waiting! And it's not always easy to "Fake it!"
Overall...students know if it is worthwhile or if you are only using it to show-off or to waste time.
