Why did Ray Charles walk so strangely?

Ray Charles always walked like a ? chicken with is butt stuck out. It didn't have anything to do with being blind. Did he have something else wrong with him?

The disease that blinded him as a child also caused the way he walked.

he was blind and also was addicted to heroine so it may have affected the way he walked.
