Problems with transmission of a 1993 dodge dynasty?

THe car wont shift from 2nd to 3rd if the engine has been idleing for a minute or two but it will shift if I just start the engine , shift into gear and go. Any ideas what might be causing this? car has 93k on it

It is possible that the output speed sensor is going bad, and the car is going into "limp in" mode. Have the transmission computer scanned for codes, and go from there!
