I want to play my old Sims 2 lying in the dust but it still feels kind of plain, so I considered buying an expansion pack.
Problem is there's so much out there right now I don't know which one to pick? Any suggestions?

Omg, I am so glad you asked that! I think if you really want a hot game, you should buy umm... nightlife, well then there's open for buisness. Okay this isn't as easy as i so.... thought! I guess it depends what you want in your game, if you want nice clothes it is the best pick to choose nightlife, with the glamorous night scene clubbing and whatnot. You can dj and everything and they have some really cool houses in it. Open for buisness is okay i suppose if you want to start up a buisness, but I only like it with nightlife. it just seems like an add on game. I played the buisness life, but ahh its like once you've done it, its over and it doesn't seem so fun if you don't have all the options of buying the stores in downtown, part of nightlife. Owning a store is nice, but after you've earned all the perks it gets a little boring.
Personally I am partial or like am in so favor of nightlife, but honestly I own all of the games including those two other stuff packages. The glamour life stuff package thingy, is like okay. I like it a lot i suppose. They have all those hollywood type styles, and you can go all snobby, rich and stylish. The clothes are so hottt!!!. They have this nice dress with this like pin thing in the middle. Family stuff is right for people who like to play their game with kids and stuff, b/c it has more stuff for kids than adults. I rather have adult clothes, kids are just okay, they can't do much and they don't look as nice. If you want you can wait and everything for the sims 2 pets, i'm so anxious to get it. I so want to play my hot looking sims with their pets on it. No lie, I work extremely hard on my sims. They have the best of everything, looks, wealthy lifetsyle and a side of intelligence. If you want me to show my my in game pics of my sims and houses etc., email me! I can help you out if you want, but I don't mind if you're not interested. In my opinion nightlife is a pick in the right direction and for an add on you should definitely give glamour life a try. All these games are okay i guess, but you should really try downloading all the game objects on the certain custom objects and sims 2 clothes and accesories fot the body and everything, or it just isn't that fun i think. That way there are more options for you to choose from and it will be exactly the way you want it, your sophisticated style!

Nightlife is good. It will make it a lot easier to increase the relationship score with anyone you wish to get together with.
I noticed you wrote "except university" in your question. Not sure if it means you already have it or don't want it, but I would suggest that one too if you don't already have it. It contains extra jobs as well as more aspiration rewards including a rejuvenator that allows you to take three days off your life with each use. This item eliminates the one disadvantage the game had being that adult life was too short.
If you do plan to get both, the order of installation does matter; so, install university first.

University is great because you have a way to learn extra skills to take into the career path, and also make lots of friends - maybe you don't like University, or already have it...anyhow, pickup Nightlife, that is the next one after University. DONT get university. Nightlife is pretty fun tho. Open for business is good, but takes a bit of work. Pets is comin out soon and that shud be really good! But if i were u id go for nightlife, it was my favourite and theres loads to do.

I would wait for pets but if your looking to get it like RIGHT now i'd go for nightlife, you can go on dates, buy a car and there are loads of cool night clubs!

Nightlife is the best, and after that comes Open For Business. You should check reviews and such to see which one you would prefer.
