I agree with most of the others. You should let it go unless you have the correct habitat. They are fun and cool to have, but he will die if not cared for properly. They need heating lamps, and environments that are set up specifically for them. (Not one of those jars with holes in the lids, or small plastic aquariums with leaves in it) That is for them to survive only a couple of days until the novelty wears off. Tell your brother to learn how to enjoy them in their habitat or he will continue to bring home wild animals!

Please, put the lizard back where you found it outside. If you aren't sure what species it is then you cannot define how to properly take care of it. This will be in the greater interest of the animal and your family. Most wild species of lizards carry parasites and generally the easiest lizards to catch are commonly sick, old or have been injured. Also if you collected this animal from a federally protected area or is endangered you might be punished for keeping it. If you don’t know what it is then you are better off putting it back in nature so Mother Earth can take care of it.
For some that encourged feeding it, considering none of you know what lizard that was caught, you cannot advise what this animal eats. For all you know it could be a herbivore. Very unprofessional on your part.

Unless you know exactly what kind of lizard is it and have a habitat already set up for it, please release it. Reptiles require very specific diet and heating needs and unless you know what you're doing, it probably won't live long.

Baby lizards eat small insects and small arachnids. Your baby lizard would be better off wherever your brother found it. Please set him free.
