It depends on how much blood it is. Is it in the process of falling off? If there is a tinge of blood, this is normal. If it's dripping blood, I'd call the doctor right away.

yes sometimes i have 2 children and with my 2 nd son i actually called the doctor very concerned all she said was the cord was trying to fall off. just put rubbing alcohol on it and it dries out the dead skin very fast, if you listen to me it will probably come off in 2 or 3 days. I'm a mother of 2, my youngest is 5 months who i had the same thing happen with.

Our daughters umbilical twine did no longer fall off until she became a million month and 3 days previous, so your infant is okay time-sensible. The puss is somewhat correct to nonetheless. i'd take the infant to the Dr.

yes, and i was also told that it is a myth that a baby will bleed to death from it falling out to soon. My son pulled his out 2 days after he got home from the hospital. He just did that baby death grip and started to throw a fit and yanked. out it came. I rushed him the the emergency room so sure that he is going to bleed to death, and the doctor told me "no biggie they can come out at anytime" I just didn't have to go through all of that drying up phase for 2 wks like most ppl. it is probably about ready for fall off anyway

Ok, here is some advice. Don't hang around the internet waiting for accurate medical advice about a newborn. It's very easy to pick up your phone and call a doctor for advice. Don't risk your childs health on the advice you get online!

My son's took almost 3 weeks to fall off. His bled a little too, he got it caught on the strap for his car seat. I'm sure it's fine, s/he probably got it caught on something and yanked it and bled. Just keep using the rubbing alcohol and s/he will be just fine.. Good luck and congrats!
