Antiviral. (free)

AVG free. Excellent protection available from: http://www.Grisoft.com

Don't use two antiviral products together as they may be incompatible. If your Antiviral trial has run out, then remove product from your computer and get the AVG installed.

I'd suggest the first thing would be to get the yahoo toolbar - its free to download and has a pop-up blocker on that works very well. You might also want to install Ad-aware or Spybot search and destroy - both available to download for free off the net - just type in the names on Google and follow the links- these will scan you computer and remove spy ware, nasty little programmes that attach themselves to your computer as you serf the net. Hope this helps.

if you are using Windows XP, trying update your internet explorer to the latest version. as it comes with automatic pop up blocker that you can configure.it's sufficient enough to block the pop up. if this doesn't fix the problem. your pc might be infested by lotsa trojan and adware.try to find an antivirus software or adware scanner tht can scan your system offline ,before starting the windows(Many of such malware can't be remove when windows is already running). if problem still persist, format ur hdd and do a clean installation(this is the best and cleanest way to disinfect!)

You will need at least two spyware checkers. I used to keep up with the best on the market, but since I switched to Suse Linux, I don't worry about spyware or viruses anymore. Macs are the same way. Anyway, not to plug my way of life, you can go to PC magazine and search for those two items. They do wonderful reviews of the best products.

Have you set your browser to block pop ups? Thats always a good place to start.
Look in Tools - Internet Options, click the Privacy tab and tick the Block Pop Ups box.

You might have spyware problem. Anti-virus is useless against them. Go to download.com and download ad-aware (personal edition is free). Run it and kill all the spywares. Then install some decent pop-up blocker like yahoo toolbar, and you will be all right.

Ad-Aware. Should take care of any spyware. And let me give you a quick tip. When you get popups, they say that you are supposed to close them with the "Alt+F4" Key Combination. Supposedly they say that the way these pop-ups are programmed, if you click the red X, it puts unwanted programs on your PC.
