I have really listened to a ton of music over the years, of pretty much any genre. It is rare to stumble across something old that sounds unique and really moves me. These ones did; check them out.

S.Y.S.L.J.F.M. (The Letter Song) by Joe Tex
Underdog by Sly & the Family Stone
- Both soul songs with great lyrics and a great groove!

Them Changes, and Machine Gun by Jimi Hendrix (live versions)
Trouble No More by the Allman Brothers Band (Muddy Waters cover)
- All blues rock with great heart and musicianship.

Action Woman by The Litter (covered by the Hoodoo Gurus in the 80s)
Garbageman by The Cramps
- Garage rock that's as garagey as it gets.

I Against I by Bad Brains
- if you can handle punk-n-reggae, there was nothing like Bad Brains!

Kalakuta Show, Gentleman, and No Agreement by Fela Kuti
- the inventor of Afrobeat created a timeless blend of rhythm and jazz that your feet can't resist. Not rock, I know, but if you haven't heard him, give it a shot.

I think if I had to say just one, it would be Joe Tex's S.Y.S.L.J.F.M. It shocked me that I had never heard such a great song - it's a real 'one timer' = one listen and you're hooked.

I would agree with the SAHB track, actually you could include most of their stuff! As for my favourite lost gems... 1: Party Hard - Andrew WK. 2: Stay Young - Ultrasound. 3:10538 Overture - ELO. 4:A Rainy Night In Soho - The Pogues. 5:Electric Man - Mansun. 6:Valley Girl - Frank Zappa 7:Most of Kirsty Maccoll's greatly undervalued catalogue! 8:Most of XTC's greatly underappreciated catalogue, but especially Great Fire, Dear God, Respctable Street, No Thugs In Our House and Grass!
