my neighbor came over & saw me asking yahoo. Seems she is going to be a grandma soon, and the jury will be forever out on what the child should call her. She is not happy with any of the most common titles such as grandma, granny, etc. Any ideas out there?

My husband's Italian great-aunt had her grandkids call her "Nonna" ("grandma" in Italian). I'd check online dictionaries for different languages for other words for "grandma," but if her name is, say, Lucy, "Nonna Lucy" has a nice sound. Good luck!
