They tend to be safer. The people in small towns tend to "pull together" and help each other in times of hardship and tragedy because they all know each other. At least in my region, the standard of living is lower than in cities, so rent, housing, etc. is cheaper.

less hassle, slower lifestyle, more privacy, nicer people (who are more dependable and less skeptical) plus many many more
