my kids preffer breakfast. but what I would do is go later than everyone else so that you have more time with the characters. the majority of people try to get there before the park opens, we get there for 10 when it's empty.

It all depends on what characters your kids like. Chef Mickey's has Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald all dressed as chefs and they come out and sing and dance and get the whole place involved. The Crystal Palace, on the other hand, has Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger. It is more of a relaxed atmosphere. They both are buffet style and are very good. However, if I have to choose between the two I would say Chef Mickey's only because it is so lively and fun for kids of all ages.

We have had both, and to be honest we liked the dinner better.
Why? Well it seems that in the morning there is more of a rush to try to eat and get to the parks to get a jump on the crowds. Also as much as I love to eat (and the food is great), filling up and going on rides slow or fast usually is not the best of ideas.
The dinner to us seems to have a better menu for adults as well as kids. Believe me you pay a premium price but the food, service, and characters make it worth it. Then after we eat we go back to where we are staying take a shower and go back to the parks till they close.
Unlike some families we cannot go every year or even every other year so when we are there we really try to have fun, and enjoy the experience.
Either meal you choose I am sure you will enjoy the food and have a nice memory to reflect back on. Believe me you can't put a price on a memory like WDW!

I think dinner at Chef Mickey's is better, just because of the menus. I haven't had dinner there, though. I've had breakfast and all I know is it's ridiculously crowded. There's a huge selection of food at dinner. At breakfast, Chef Mickey's just serves the typical breakfast items that you'll find at any of the Disney buffets. At dinner there's prime rib, bone-in ham, salmon, chicken, something for everyone.

I have done both, but personally I like breakfast there better. There are many wonderful dinner places, but not many decent breakfast places. Chef Mickey is one of them, and it is especially great for children.

Breakfast was less expensive but not to appealing. The kids liked dinner better but if your going to be at the Magic Kingdon make reservation at the crystal Palace and winnie the pooh and gang are there and its a buffet

I would think dinner because at breakfast you will be rushing to finish so that you can get into the parks but at dinner time you will be more relaxed.
