Depends on the university. Where I went, you could re-take a class once and have the new grade replace the old one.

If the grade is below a C-, a student can apply for academic renewal. The 2nd attempt would replace the grade (even if the grade is worse) and would be used in the GPA, but both grades would show up on the transcripts. Usuaully there is an indication on the transcript on the first attempt that the class has been repeated (and states the quarter/semester that the student retook the class).

Please look in your university's catalog to see what the requirements are as some universities might limit the number of times a student can repeat the course for academic renewal. You might also want to meet with an academic advisor to see if you need to fill out any paperwork or if the course will be automatically updated with the new grade.

You should speak with your university advisors. Every school calculates the GPA differently. In most cases the better course grade is calculated into to your total gpa and the lower course grade gets dropped even though it will remain on your official transcript.

Wait... are you in high school or college? Cuz i thought the "a-g" courses are for UC (I am not sure though).
If you are in high school, then the answer is the original grade will be included.
If you are in university, then I dont think the original grade will be included.

It depends on the school's rules.

Overall though, usually yes, but you have to repeat the exact same class. Like if you failed Calculus 10, you can't take Calculus 15 to make up for it.

Still, check with your school.

the new grade will replace the old in gpa calculation-whether it is better or worse; but both will be placed on your transcript
