Well, I think the growth of the internet and the advances in PCs have had a significant impact on our daily lives. I think that, despite the rise of 'reality tv', there have been so many great tv shows in the last 20 yrs that you can make a case for this being sort of a New Golden Age. Shows like Deadwood, The Wire, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: TNG, and many others are smarter, funnier, sharper and more creative than the shows of 20 yrs ago. And sports coverage, so much easier to follow a baseball team now than in the past.

Sadly, aside from those things, I'm hard pressed to think of many other significant changes. We're still fighting all the wrong wars for all the wrong reasons and our politicians are as corrupt, perverse, and ineffectual as ever.

I think the biggest change I have seen is in communications. The Internet has played a big part in it and of course the mobile phone. I wish my parents had experienced this advance in communication. they lived abroad and I live in England. Some years ago I could only speak to them once or twice a month, due to the cost of tel. calls. I wonder how much further all this can be improved..........................we will have to wait and see.
