I'm almost 28. When I was an undergrad I was a bad student. I wish I had a serious execuse for it but I was just immature and jerked around alot (girls and parties). Intelligence is hard to measure-whether I'm smart or not is beyond me; butI do not that I am capable of showing for class and doing the work. Now, more mature I feel, I want to go to grad school but I don;t meet many of the requirements-my GPA is 2.2! Does anyone have experience with bad records and getting into schools. They are so bureaucratic-what can I do to get past these requirements?

is it possible for you to take several a stand alone unit that is not attached to a degree?(Like if you are interested in being a physio take Human bio, anatomy, physics.) If you could take those units and did well in them, the unis may consider you for that actual grad school. Please check with the specific departments first.

Some grad school will consider you based on work experience.

Yes i know it sucks incredibly because universities believe solid experience is better than what comes out of the horse's mouth.

You are mature for your age, to recognize that you made this mistake. Here are a couple of suggestions:
1) take some more undergrad courses and be sure to get good grades in them. Take that to the counselors at the grad school to see if that helps.
2) go to one of the many for-profit colleges. They are quite expensive but they will want you as a student if you can pay. But don't get roped into a long-term loan or long-term contract. Keep you options open. Once you have some good grades at one of these colleges, again, take the grades to your preferred university. Oh, make sure that the for-profit college is ACCREDITED and that your desired university will accept transfer credit from them.
