Swear, call myself a coupla choice names and go back in, explain the whole thing, including the bit where it's for my Islamic neighbour and while I'm sure the chicken I have is fantastically tasty, and while I personally will be back for more when I can get some cash, I need to hand it back to them, untouched, and get my money back so that I can respect his faith and be a good neighbour myself. Take a menu and promise to tell all my friends about their kindness and great service. Get the dosh back and pop next door as quickly as possible, so as not to keep my neighbour waiting.
To me, as to others here, chicken is just chicken. But it's not me I'm buying it for, and it's not my money that's buying it, so I would do my utmost to make sure I observed my neighbour's food rules.

I ,by the way, never do have money with me but I also carry a handy device called a debit card. How much would it cost to go and get the chicken from the right shop and pay for it with my debit card.
If I had no funds at all I would simply hand it over to my neighbours. They aren't committing a grievous sin by eating your mistake. People who are really hungry deserve to eat something and it's not like you bought them a pork sandwich. Chicken is ,well, chicken.

Eat the chicken and tell them you went to the wrong shop and had no money left and you ate the chicken because you felt so guilty. Ask for forgiveness.

I'd go to the ATM take some money out and buy them the correct chicken. This isn't a difficult question. You do the right thing.

My elderly Islamic neighbour knows a whole lot better than to give me his last bit of money. esp as I have to walk past the pub on the way to the shop.

Oh yeah, my sister used to have an islamic boyfriend. One day they came over to have diner and I realised I put alcohol in the food. I said nothing. According to isalmic rules it is not a sin if you weren't aware you were having alcohol.
So I'd say nothing, but throw away the containers, of course.

I would tell the neighbour as I believe they have the right to choose what they eat. If they choose to eat Halal meat you should respect their choice.

I'd take it back to my elderly neighbour and give him them the food, if they noticed I'd screwed up then I'd apologise and go home get more money and go buy them the right food....if however they didn't notice........then I'd smile politely and leave pretty quick!
