Give yourself a break...do something you enjoy doing (besides writing!), such as listening to music, taking a walk, watching a movie...anything but write. Let your mind just be relaxed for a bit, not worrying about writer's block...and this will allow fresh and new thoughts in, which are certainly conducive to productive and successful writing.

Try a free write. Just write down all your thoughts on the topic continuously; it doesn't even have to be in complete sentences. Often times the best poetry lines come out when you're not really trying; at least for me it often happens. Hope I helped.

The times I write the best poems are when I'm consumed with an emotion, most commonly a painful one. You could try remembering a scene in your past when you felt a strong emotion. Sit in that memory until the emotion comes back to you. Pick up a pencil and paper and write from that place.

I thought of saying something cute
To give your head a break.
But when I clicked on "Answer this.,"
MY mind just took a break!
I sat here, fingers on the keys,
Just rarin' to let go.
I read your question once again
And thought about it so.
I looked around me as I sat
And contemplated "life."
"Why can't I answer this poor soul
Whose mind is full of strife?"
So, I determined to plug on,
Though slowly, up the hill.
I'm bound to finish this to you
(Think of it as you will).
Apparently comes a time when all
Poetic prose is blocked,
And heads will just not empty out
The words, know matter what!
Perhaps if you create a poem
That signifies your plight,
You might be able to clear all
The "bad vibes" in your sight.
Then after that, the way just might
Be clear for you to go
Ahead and create, freely, all
The words you want to show.
If I have helped at all today,
No thanks are needed here.
(Just vote me "best" in Answers, and
Ten points will make us clear!)

try word association...just go down the list of words you already have and say the first one out loud..then say the next thing that pops into your head and write it down beside it..then on to the next on the list and repeat the process..this will tap into your subconsious and maybe help you with your flow...Good luck!

think about a past experience, and find some rhyming words that would match your poem. Try to read or research some famous poems, get the juices flowing. Try a haiku, they're easy to do.
GOOD LUCK!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
