If there is any Jehova witnesses online, oh wait a minute I just thought, you guys don't have any pastimes apart from knocking on folks doors, but if there is one here or someone who knows the answer to my question which is.
We all know that Jehova witnesses don't accept blood transfusions, but one of my questions for now is, if you were involved in a bad accident, and in the op theatre the surgeon cut your aorta by accident and you were a rare blood group, and the blood wasn't readaly available, so the surgeons suck up as much of your blood and clean it so that it could be put back into your own body, what would you do in that delema, it's your own blood, will you allow the surgeon / nurse to put your bown blood back into your body to help save your life.
Please answer exactly what you would do regarding your own blood leaving your body and then having the chance to put it back min to you via a plastic tube etc.

Ok now I can say this that happened yesterday in hospital. I have kidney failure and have haemodialysis. In the bed next to me is a lady whom I have known only a few weeks. She is a J.W. for 35 years I only found out yesterday, I quizzed her re the above and she kept on telling me that on no account was blood that left her body to be put back in, so I lay back and rested a while as it was like talking to a cardboard box then I thought, hey wait a minute, pointing at the tubes in her kneck, well if you say you don't ever let blood into your body after it has left, then pointing to my kneckline and the tubes in my arm, I said to her well what the hell do you call this then? tomatoe ketchup?, I have never seen a coloured persons face near go red, she hesetated for a few moments and then came out with, we are not allowed to take stored blood. I gave her a bit of a time as I said, you guys harp on about blood entering your body after it has left it, so wats the truth?

To all the J.w's and some of you guys who answered, I know what you mean, but this woman argued the toss with me regarding she was to have no transfusions at all, then she contradicts herself by saying she can't accept stored blood, unless I got her in a 2 and 8 then I don't know what she really meant. So don't forget she said she cannot accept stored blood even her own, so if she can have her own blood back, then she will have to read her bible or whatever mentions blood transfusions, cause she now got herself in a pickle and I saw she was embarrassed and grinned a bit and didn't say much, even the nurse in the unit had a laugh at us arguing the toss.

My dad's best mate is a Jehovah and he had a kidney transplant. He has this water thing I don't know it's name but it is instead of blood. However when his daughter had an accident he didn't refuse blood for her. His daughter is everything to him and at the end of the day it's his choice not hers and your children must be given what every they need to live. Not all of them are tw..s

I'm not a Jehova's witness but I've read those little cards they carry. :) The cards say no blood transfusions, specifically putting other peoples blood into their own. The cards cite a bible verse against the MIXING of bloods. So I would interprate that to mean no blood from other people, but your own blood is ok.
What a random question to ask. I'm curious why you want to know. If you're burning with curiousity call ...umm...whossnames...a Jehova's witness leader. Or, call a hospital and ask what their protocol is. Hmm.

Jehovah’s Witnesses refuse blood transfusion as they believe that God wants us to abstain from blood. They interpret this as meaning that we must not take into our bodies, in any way at all, other people’s blood or even our own blood that has been stored. However, Jehovah’s Witnesses who are haemophiliacs do make use of blood products such as the proteins referred to as Factor VIII and Factor IX. These two proteins are important to control bleeding in haemophiliacs.

Jehovah's witnesses who don't accept blood transfusions also do not accept autotransfusion or cell salvage as you described.
As a point of fact, in central florida their church has put on a large campaign to inform members that refusing blood transfusion is not part of true church doctorine but popularized by a single clergyman about fifty years ago.

First, formerly making a dumb question, you particularly ought to invite some witnesses over for a communique to get your data rights. purely those Born back circulate to heaven, as maximum religions coach. They weren't began in 1914, it particularly is whilst they calculated, based on the Bible, the initiating of the "signs and warning signs" of the 2d presence of Christ might initiate, with "Wars and Rumors of Wars". WWI began in 1914. confident, many assumed, like maximum of Christendom does, that with the 2d presence of Christ is the creation of Armageddon, only using fact the Jews have faith it is going to ensue whilst the Messiah comes the 1st time, yet on the time in addition they have faith in celebrating Christmas. The ideals weren't the effect of one individual, yet of many, all interpreting the King James and submitting their critiques. Now, try examining with the JWs so as which you will make a stable argument the subsequent time.

I'm not one of them, but i think that they only object to foreign blood being put in their body (because they literally believe the blood is the life of a person - which it obviously is, but a blood transfusion doesn't change one's personality, now does it?!?).
However, i could be wrong i guess...

Witnesses do not accept tranfusions. However, the example you give is of the patients' blood being returned to their own body. No blood is being tranfused from one body to another. The Witness would have no objection therefore, to accepting their own blood.

my boyfriends nan is a jw and would be happy to have her own blood collected and put back into her body so i think it just depends on the individual. From what i understand the problem lies with accepting foreign blood!

As a nurse I have seen Jehovah's witness patients who give blood prior to planned surgery so they can have a transfusion if necessary so it would probably be OK
