Your brain is separated into layers, the bottom/innermost layers handling all your basic functions (such as breathing, heartbeat, automatic reflexes, etc., and the top layer being the front lobes and "top" part of your brain.

Higher reasoning occurs especially in the front lobes and most likely is where consciousness comes from. (i.e., "the front of your head" where you are currently thinking).

But the mind is really not physical, and no one really understands what it is compared to the brain, since all we can really study is the physical body (i.e., the brain itself) and what happens when different parts of it are stimulated or damaged. We just are not really sure where the mind comes from or why we are self-conscious.

Depending on where the brain is damaged, different functions are lost ... and possibly a sense of self.

For example, losing your hippocampus means you can't store any long-term memories. You forget things right after they happen and only remember stuff you stored BEFORE the hippocampus was damaged.

Losing other areas of the brain can cause memory loss or confused function (such as not remembering how to pronounce words even if you can read them mentally on paper, or vice versa). All of these things contribute to our "conscious mind" and sense of self.

a) You think all over your brain depending on topic, area of body you want to impact, injury etc.
b) You can't control and move this around as separate sections have separate functions to think about.
c) Your brain isn't a muscle - it is an unexplored series of neurons and synapses functioning through chemical/electrical impulses.

That's like telling your heart to beat to the star spangled banner. Your organs do what they will. The back of your mind I believe is where memory is stored. You only use 30% of your brain the rest is free space.

What you are stating here is called an "empiric" reflexion. Based on your intuition and emotional feelings. Dont trust it, and thinking about it doesnt make you progress quicker in life.
