The only difference between middle class and working class is the type of work they do.Working class has to do with money they make and the way they live. Middle class are usually classified as middle management job holder. They both make about the same amount of money. There is not a real difference just how they live there lives with the money they earn. As for your question sure a senior manager can be classified as working class and even lower. It is how he or she uses the money and the way they live and spend that money. DO they by drugs on the downlow, or a home, do they have midmangement freinds or creeps for freinds. Do they attend churches or not. These are the differences of the classes. If you really want to understand the differences between class, you can read a book called the handmaiden. It breaks things down and is a good read.

YES a senior manager can be working class, just as a tramp can be upper class!

It's all in OUR perceptions.

Where I come from, we don't have upper class so I can't comment. But I always understood that the difference between working class and middle class is that middle class people give dinner parties!!!

You're kidding right? Ok how about this; the difference can be exemplified like this; you voted for the war in Iraq but your children will never have to wear a uniform, while the poor kid across town doesnt have much of a choice. Choices for the poor and disenfranchised are usually; low level minimum wage jobs, prison (guilty of a crime or not) college for those who can afford it or service in the military. While this is general and not the rule for everyone but its validity is 100% because the lack of choice for those who dont have money is very real and absolutely fits the majority of americans in that position. It always comes down to money, that is your answer. You can call a squirrel a seal but is it real?

Funny you should ask-it is the upper class that usually defines the perimeters of class! Given the slash I am assuming that working/middle class is of one group? Working middle class families are of comfortable income 30g plus usually and they are the ones that have small businesses or are working for another. Upper class is usually those that live well are titled and have an income in access of 50g. Have their own business or a key player in big business

In a nut shell........It's in the way one thinks .....

Think any class...your thoughts direct you there

Thinking directs the whole of your existence

And the wonder full thing is One can control what one thinks and thereby ones future
To answer this question , To become senior management one must think like senior management, behavior will match thoughts..
However outside this sphere of management one may display traits of other segments of society

working class is the slave that keep the economy running, middle class are higher, make more money and try to keep them self from dropping to working class, and upper class are the slaver do nothing but collect money earned by the hard work of the other two classes

Working class workers typically earn 30k/year or less, often on an hourly wage.

Middle class workers earn from 40k-100k/year or less, almost exclusively on salary if they aren't a small business owner.

Upper class workers earn from 100k-millions/year and are often small business owners or in high ranking positions within corporations or practicing professionals with thier own firm.

MONEY, basically.

Working class is 'working' class (anyone working in someone else's employ), Middle class is 'professional', working for themselves (and probably for upper class) and Upper class are those SO rich they have no need of work, only play (aka: the aristocracy and alike).

If your senior management example works for someone else and does not OWN the company, despite elevated image; is still working class.

I would say working class are shop workers, office workers, mechanics, electricians, and other trades men.
I think middle class is doctors, lawyers, professionals.
Upper class moves in certain circles, lords and ladies, royalty and so on.
Money does not make you upper class.

It all comes down to money and power. Plenty of people with lots of money can be working class. It all depends on the money you make and the power you yield.
