Get some make-up & methodically read the ingredient list to her & explain what she'll be putting on her face.
I'll bet when she finds out her lipstick has inexplicable animal remnants she'll be turned off at the thought of wearing it - especially when she finds out how much lipstick we actually consume each year.
A good alternative might be to find natural ingredients to enhance her color. (i.e. make a berry paste for lipstick)

Right now I'm 13 almost 14, and I've been wearing makeup since I was late 11 early 12. Most of my friends started wearing makeup around 11 or 12. I personally think that you should let her, but first find out if her friends and peers do to. Don't do this by asking her, "Do your friends wear makeup?" because she'll say yes even if they don't. My parents came to one of my school football games to see my friends and happened to pay attention to if they wore makeup. They did, and my parents took that into consideration, and said yes. My mom made sure that I knew how to put it on, and do it tastefully. My parents are now fine with the makeup that I wear. For first time makeup wear I would get her some quality products without all of the perservatives and junk in it like Bare Escentuals (aka Bare Minerals). Bare Minerals is all mineral product that comes in different products (Mascara, eye liner, blush, bronzer, lip gloss, foundation, etc.) Its really high quality but without a super high price. I started using Bare Minerals since my mom used Bare Minerals, and I've used it ever since. Its a really great product and I suggest you check it out. Good luck to you and your daughter!

I think I was about 12 or 13 when I started wearing make-up. My mom took me to the store and bought me some CoverGirl pressed powder and light colored blush. I think she let me wear some clear mascara also and some light tinted lip gloss. At 12, I think that's the perfect amount of make-up. She just wants to feel more like the young woman that she's becoming. A scary thought for moms, I know! Tell her she is beautiful and doesn't need a lot of make-up. This will help build her self-esteem, as a lot of young adolescent girls struggle with self-esteem at this age. Good luck with the teenage years!

I think 12 is way to young to be wearing make up, your just asking a petifile to get to her! I wasn't allowed to wear make up til I was 15, but you know that kids do things behild their parents back, so I really started wearing it at 15. if you tell her she can't wear it until a certin age like 16 she will start to wear it around 14 or 15. I have a 9 month old and I see these mom's and their teenage or tweens and I wanna slap the mom in the face! How can you let ur kid out of the house like that? Haven't you seen dateline?! I saw a mom in a store and she bought her daughter who was maybe 9 a shirt that said " you can pop my cherry" with a cherry on it and it made me sick. sorry but I think the sexuallaty is happenint WAY too young, first it's make up next is clothes.

Tell her that she is too young to wear it out of the house, so you will not allow her to, no matter what she says, until you think that she is old enough. Tell her that if she wants to experiment with it and play around, then she can wear make up at home only.
For brands I would check out Walmart for a cheap brand, since she may go through a lot of it trying to figure out exactly how to use it. Mary Kate and Ashley have a make up line, and there are several other brands that make things that a girl her age would like.
If you want to let her wear it whenever she wants, then tell her she can but only if you can show her how to put it on and if she wears it like that all the time. She should not be wearing so much that you can tell she is wearing it. Tell her that if you do not approve of how she is wearing it then she has to wipe it off.
It is your daughter so it should be up to you and her father, but in my opinion there is no reason in the world for a 12 year old to be wearing make up. Make up is for us older girls who need some help covering things up. At 12, she probably has beautiful skin.
If you don't want her to wear it at all, tell her that wearing make up at her age could ruin her skin (it actually can clog her pores and give her zits).
YOu could always comprimise and allow her to wear a little eye shadow or something, but theres no need for concealor/ foundation, mascara and lipstick at this point.

I think you should let her at age 12 I was already wearing make up.I think powder or cover girl tinted moisturizer is so good.Because it had SPF and it's looks super natural it's just a wash a tint of color to cover up spots like zits or under eye circles.Dark brown or clear mascara is good and let her get at least one eye shadow.

Well I'm 13 and for my birthday my mom bought me makeup...i was so excited! I would let her wear some...like my mom lets me wear more natural colors...but i can't wear eyeliner....so I would do something like that. The brand she got me was bare minerals....she said its more expensive but she taught me how to use it and said she would pay 4 my makeup....unless i waste it then I have to pay for my own.

OK...well I think that any brand is OK, Avon, I think is the best, only because they don't test on animals. And let her wear it, she'll feel better about herself, and she may not like once she realizes what a pain in the butt it is to put on and take off, Good luck!

I am not in favor of 12 yos and makeup. However, if you allow it, a coverup base and maybe a clear lip gloss.
